Can I try the sport before I play?
Yes, you can. We will set you up with one of our experienced coaches to help you get started. Typically someone is given two weeks to decide if they want to become a member.
Can I bring a friend with me?
Yes, another benefit of bowls is that it can be played as an individual or team sport.
What is the object of the game?
To roll your bowls in an attempt to get nearest to a small white ball called the “jack”. Come and try it out at our club to appreciate the fun of the game!
Do I have to buy special equipment?
No. All you need is a pair of flat-soled shoes. The club supplies bowls to first year members and some bowls may be available in subsequent years.
Will I have to make a commitment to play?
No. You may bowl every day if you wish or irregularly if that suits you better. Teams are drawn randomly from players who show up for the Daily Draws. We also offer leagues, fun days and club tournaments for those who wish to enhance the club experience.
How long is a typical game?
About two hours maximum, but games can be much shorter depending on players’ preferences or tournament rules.
What is the length of the season?
Outdoor bowling season starts in late April and ends in September depending on the weather.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. There are no colour restrictions. Flat-soled shoes are required, most members wear athletic shoes with smooth soles.
What is the age range of members?
We welcome bowlers of any age.
