Scotch Pairs Tournament
Conditions of Play
- Trial ends before first game on each day at 08:30 and 11:00 (2 up / 2 down)
- Early flight on Saturday starts late on Sunday and late flight on Saturday starts early on Sunday.
- Early flight times 08:45 and 1:30.
- Late flight times 11:15 and 3:45.
- All games will be played in line with the Laws of the Sport, Crystal Mark 4th Conditions of Play for this event are noted below.
- Dress Code- Team colors or whites. Red remains reserved for umpires.
- 32 teams, two flights.
- $50/team entry fee paid by the skip.
- 14 end games with a time limit of 2hrs.
- Scoring is 3 points for a Win, 1 point for a Tie, and 0 points for a loss.
- Results will be calculated as follows: game points, then ends won, then shot differential (No cap). If there is still a tie, the final method if needed will be shots for divided by shots against.
- Re-Spot rule in effect as per Laws of the Sport Crystal Mark 4th Edition.

- Players may change positions before the start of a new game.
- Leads can visit the head after their third and fourth bowl and Skips may visit the head after their second, third, and fourth bowl.
- Skips are responsible for handing score cards into the Games desk. Please ensure they are legible and signed/initialed.
- Players not able to attend must organize a spare player, prior to the start of a game.
- All discrepancies or disputes will be decided by the games committee in consultation with the umpire.
- Please ensure your cell phone is either silenced or turned off during play.
- If members of a team are not present and ready to bowl at the time the umpire signals, play is to commence, that team will be permitted 10 minutes to complete their team and start play without penalty. After 10 minutes, the offending team will lose their 1st end by a score of 1-0. After 20 minutes, the absent team will lose the 2nd end by 2-0. After 30 minutes the absent team will lose the game by default. The game score for the team in attendance and will be scored as a win at the average score of all games in the same section in that round.
- Should a participant or team in any Open Competition not complete their scheduled games for reasons other than illness or emergency, they will be disqualified from participating in any other competition held in the current year, as well as the following year.
- If a substitute is needed, permission is required from the Games Chair. The player being replaced will not be able to re-enter that specific game. They can re-enter the tournament in the next game. The substitute may play any position other than skip (This rule is waived when playing Scotch Pairs).
- Bowling devices such as Bowling Arms, Ubi launchers, used to assist bowlers are permitted
- No smoking or alcohol can be consumed within the clubhouse, grounds, greens or parking lot of the Courtenay LBC
- Courtenay LBC will adhere to the guidelines regarding Electrical Storms and Hot Weather protocols.
- All teams are expected to observe the Code of Conduct of the Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club as posted and be aware of the disciplinary procedures.
